Does PaperCut work with our student login and safeguarding software?+
PaperCut authenticates against your existing directory — Active Directory, Entra ID, Google Workspace or your MIS-linked accounts — so pupils and staff use the credentials they already have. Print jobs are logged against the individual user and can be held for secure release at the device, which is what most safeguarding and acceptable-use policies require. We configure it alongside your existing filtering and monitoring tools rather than replacing them, and we will work with your IT provider during setup.
Can we track print costs per department or per year group?+
Yes. PaperCut reporting can be broken down by user, class, department, cost centre or site, with scheduled reports emailed to budget holders. For multi-academy trusts we can report per school as well as trust-wide, so you can compare sites and see where volume is concentrated.
How do you handle the demand spikes around exams and reports?+

Can we set print quotas for pupils and let staff print freely?+
Yes — quotas, restrictions and policies are set per group. A common setup gives pupils a termly allowance with colour restricted or charged at a higher rate, while staff print without a hard limit but with default duplex and mono policies applied to reduce waste. Everything remains visible in reporting.
Do you lease to schools, and what does the lease include?+
